The monument to the 27th Indiana Infantry Regiment at Antietam is on the north side of Cornfield Avenue. It was dedicated in 1910. (See location)

3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 12th Army Corps
Col. Silas Colgrove, Commanding,
Was engaged with the enemy 400 yards
north of this marker. Sept. 17, 1862.
Number engaged 440.
Killed and wounded 209.
The 27th is also honored by a monument at Gettysburg.
