The Otto farmhouse is east of Sharpsburg on the south side of the Burnside Bridge Road. (Branch Avenue North tour map) The Otto family left on the morning of the 16th after foraging soldiers appeared the night before. Although the buildings suffered no major damage, the house and barn were used as field hospitals after the battle.
