Massachusetts Monuments at Antietam
The State of Massachusetts Monument at Antietam is located just south of the intersection of Hagerstown Turnpike and Cornfield Avenue. (Hagerstown Pike tour map) It was dedicated in 1920.
The front of the granite monument has a bronze relief of the Seal of the State of Massachusetts in the center flanked by text carved into the stone. Bronze tablets on both sides list all the Massachusetts units that participated in the Battle of Antietam.

A large brass plaque on the rear of the monument shows the locations of Massachusetts units in the battle. The map shows west at the top, with the town of Sharpsburg in the upper left.
