Notes:
(1) At Crampton’s Gap Lieutenant Colonel Francis H. Pinto of the 32nd New York temporarily took command of the 31st New York, which had lost all its field officers. The 32nd’s Colonel Roderick Matheson and Major George F. Lemon were both mortally wounded there. Lieutenant Colonel Pinto then took command of the combined regiments through Antietam.
